I don't know allot about the physiological stages of dealing with major changes in life like this journey, but I have recognized the way I talk to myself about what is going on as a way of coping. I always like humor because just about any difficulty blessed with the passage of time can seem almost comical.
So, here is a funny poster from the demotivater site dispare.com
I hope my sense of dealing with this doesn't offend anyone, but it gave me a really good laugh, and then a kind-of somber sigh.

Hello Dan, Joel here. Hope you are doing well. Thought I would remind you of some good memories we have shared.
We had plenty of good ole campouts, but a few stand out more than others. You might remember when we went to scofield and we all started throwing up. Well, you might also remember that I threw a rock at a kid while we were there and made him cry, which made his whole group come after me... you saved me by saying that they would have to go through my bigger brother... i will always remember that and then you got us all to be cool with each other and started a football game between us.
While on that campout you also had a pretty good quote... you said something like you were a grown up, but a kid at heart.
Some other good times we had were: cross county skiing, all of the basketball and football games, and just goofing around.
Hope all goes well, thanks for the example you set for me and my friends and know we will be praying for you.
Joel Larson
